Goodbye Starlight

This last week Erin said goodbye to Starlight. It was a tough decision to sale her, but we knew it was time. Luckily Rich works with her new owner and we can go visit her. She is now having a blast running in the fields with some cows. We are excited to see she will have plenty of space and get the training she needs. They even said we can come ride her when she is ready.

Thanks to Uncle Mark for teaching us how to care for her and giving her a place to stay.
We couldn't have done it without you!

Homecoming

Lys and her date, Josh.

Her date started by going to Toads in Ogden. Then he dropped her off to get ready for dinner and the dance. Here she is ready and waiting.

Her flowers. I didn't get a pic of them until this morning so the flowers turned a little.
I guess I am out of practice with this sort of thing because I totally forgot to order a boutineer.

This is my favorite part.
All these kids are 16 but none of them have their license so Josh's mom drove them to Ogden and to the dance. I can imagine how fun that was for her, but its a great way to keep an eye on them.

I was sure Rich was going to have his brothers come over so they could all be there cleaning their guns, but we were lucky to get him in the house just in time for Josh to show up. Although Lys informs me that Josh would have just joined in on the fun.
Isn't she beautiful.

My front door

Ever since we moved in I have had the ugliest front door you have ever seen. The painter did not want to stain it until the weather was better. So I waited and waited and waited. I was beginning to think I was going to be stuck with this ugly door. Finally, the painter came last week!
Here is the finished product. I am in love with this door! It is beautiful and exactly what I wanted.
Did I mention that I love this door?
Thank you Joaquin!

First Day of School

Yesterday was our first day of school.
This is my first year not taking Erin with me to school.
I will miss her asking me to turn on Thriller EVERYDAY to and from school, but
that means I get to listen to Juke Box Hero instead.

Lyss had her first day of school today.
She is a Junior this year and has been counting down the minutes for school to start.

Erin started Intermediate School (6th and 7th).
We were both a little nervous for her, but she came back with a smile.
Let's hope for the same thing today.

Laura

This is Laura, isn't she beautiful! Laura is my awesome friend Jan's daughter and this summer we have been very fortunate to have her stay with us. But summer is ending and she is headed back to school. Thank you Laura for all the laughs, late talks with the teenager, entertaining Maci, the yummy fudge and complimenting my mediocre dinners.
You will be missed!!!
Best of luck at school!

(Jan, Hope you don't mind I got the pic of her from your blog)

Zeke

While the girls were away at girls camp I had this really dumb idea.
IDEA: How fun would it be for them to come home and find a new puppy.
What was I thinking?
But how can you look into those eyes and not want to take him home.

Maci spent three days with me and helped me pick out this little trouble maker. She was an excellent puppy sitter and had plenty of ideas what we should name him.

However the task was given to Rich and after many names, he finally chose one,
ZEKE!

Zeke is stinking cute and a lot of work, but I think we are getting the hang of it.
Even Ella is coming around.

More birthday fun

Each year we ask Erin what she wants to do for her birthday. We always go to Papa and Mums and then play. This year she chose swimming. So we took her and Kira to the Kamas pool. They had a great time and did not want to leave.

Afterwards we met Papa, Mums and Lys for dinner and a movie. Mums had cake and ice cream ready for Erin and lots of presents. It's always fun and relaxing to go to Papa's house.

Thank you Papa and Mums for making the weekend fun.
We love you!
